- The new Honua Kai Resort and Spa is due to open at the end of this month in

- A reader in Maui contacted me to tell me about an interesting class at VITEC/Maui Community College on January 26 called "Haoles in Hawai’i." The class will look at the visiting writers who came to Hawaii in the 19th century and how they shaped public perceptions of the islands. See this link for more information.

Sheila, the class at VITEC sounds so interesting! I wish I were there to take it. It’s easy to become addicted to the beauty of Hawaii, but for many of us, the history and unique culture are what keep us coming back:-)
