Kauai receives approval to rejoin Hawaii’s Safe Travels program starting April 5

Governor Ige approved Kauai’s request to rejoin the state’s Safe Travels program starting April 5, 2021. This change will allow travelers with a negative pre-travel COVID-19 test from a trusted testing partner to bypass quarantines. Travelers participating in the Safe Travels program will also be able to travel directly to the Kauai from out of state without the need to either stay on another island for a minimum of three days and pre-test again or stay confined to a resort bubble and test again.

In a statement released by Kauai, one of the reasons for rejoining the Safe Travels program is:

“Kaua‘i has built a robust vaccine distribution program. By April, we will have offered vaccines to our hospitality industry and restaurant employees, and our healthcare workers, first responders and kupuna will have been fully vaccinated.”
