When in Hawaii, I prefer to wake up to the sound of waves or birds, not hammers and buzz saws. I’d imagine you feel the same way. Here is a site worth checking before you book your next Hawaii hotel. This site lists construction alerts for Hawaii Hotels. I don’t think it includes every construction project. So, to be sure you will get a restful morning, it would be wise to call the hotel and check for any upcoming construction projects before you book.

Wow, I wish I had a ‘hotel under construction’ list like this when I went to a Palm Springs resort in California one year. I think the entire resort was under construction except for our small wing. We had to walk through hallways filled with workers banging on carpet, walls, etc. At least it was quiet at night.
Your Hawaii list is a helpful resource. I am anxious to see the new outrigger hotel/retail area in Waikiki. It should be a refreshing change from the cluttered and old hotels that used to be in that area. Since it is very difficult or impossible to build a new hotel in Waikiki most of the resorts are being renovated and upgraded, so it is harded to find low, bargain hotel rates any more. Some of the hotels have been changed to time share resorts as well. I recommend the Koolina resort or Turtle Bay Resort which are far from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.
Hi Christian – You’re Palm Springs experience must have been a bit unpleasant!
Like you, I’m a huge fan of the resorts outside of Waikiki on Oahu. I find them to be much more peaceful.
