Prince Kuhio was the last reigning prince in Hawaii who became a politician representing Hawaii in Washington, D.C, decades before Hawaii became a state. In fact, he is credited for introducing the first statehood bill to U.S. Congress in 1919.

When you visit Hawaii, you’ll see buildings, parks and streets named after Prince Kuhio. If you’d like to learn more about this celebrated prince, you can do so as follows:

  1. Going to Hawaii has been my dream since my sister went for her first time in the 1970’s. When I got married in 1980 my husband promised we would come for our 20th anniversary then 25th & then our 30th. It’s going on 34 years and still never been, something with family problems keep stopping us. We are now raising 3 of our grandkids, so I guess my dream & honeymoon will never happen. Yes, my sister’s been back & her daughter has friends that live there and she goes every summer. I live through her pictures, I guess we’re too old to go anymore. I guess it was a silly dream we made Aug. 6, 1980, and now we don’t celebrate our anniversary anymore, one of our grandsons that lives with us was born on 8-6-04. We make his birthday special every year!!! But I can still day dream……..
