* Need a good reason to go to Maui next week? How about making plans to attend the 29th annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival? It’s a four-day culinary extravaganza that I really, really, really want to attend someday. * Hawaii Island Festival – 30 Days of Aloha begins on August 28th. The festival will celebrate the Big Island’s cultural traditions and aloha spirit. See this link for the schedule of events.

* The CanoeHouse restaurant at the Big Island’s Mauna Lani resort offers a very nice prix fixe menu of three courses for $49 per person. To get the deal, you need to be seated between 5:30 and 6:00pm and order from this menu.
